Thomas Sommer, Computer Science (Dipl)

He tries to solve problems with the least effort, playing on the knife edge of the virtue of laziness which (combined with the sad fact that he doesn't drink coffee) sometimes stops him from being hyperproductive.

Coding

Tom has been a Ruby (and Rails) programmer for the past 4 years. His main focus is the Web, so he’s interested in everything that has to do with Javascript, CSS, Markup and the usual backend technologies like databases and application servers. Following BDD and seeing red dots turn green when running his preferred testing frameworks – RSpec and Cucumber – always puts a smile on his face.

While developing he’s trying to solve problems with the least effort, playing on the knife edge of the virtue of laziness which (combined with the sad fact that he doesn’t drink coffee) sometimes stops him from being hyperproductive.

The other stuff

Two things have primary importance: Music and Beer! Being a German the love for beer comes naturally and you’ll never find Tom working without Music… that’s why you can always count on having these things in the office!

Being a huge Basketball (and in general sports) fan drives him to the court and gym a couple times a week. He also believes that a good work/life balance is necessary to perform at your peak, so he doesn’t try to think about work when he’s outside the office too much.

… and: Matt (the boss), Wesley Moore, Jon Higgs, Tim Goh, Andre Lahs, Scott Arbeitman, David Powell, and you?
